Wrestling One Of The Earliest Sport! Wrestling

Wrestling is one of the earliest sport known to man. Many hundreds of scenes of wrestling matches are sculpted on the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs. And they show practically all the holds and falls known to us today. So wrestling was a highly developed sport at least 5,000 years ago!

This ancient sort was an organized and scientific sport was probably introduced int Greece from Egypt or Asia. However, there is a Greek legend that it become invented by way of the hero Theseus.

An Ancient Sport!

Wrestling became an important department of athletics in historic Greece. The greek wrestlers used to rub oil on themselves and then rub exceptional sand on the oil, to come up with the money for a better hold. The number one wrestlers of the classical world were Milo of Croton, who achieved 32 victories in the national games and had six Olympic achievements.

In Japan, where this sport is very popular. the first recorded wrestling match took place in 23 B.C. The Japanese have a style of this sport called “Sumo”, in which weight is very important. Some Sumo champions have weighed as much as 300 pounds and were tremendously strong. but still quite light on their feet.

In Britan, wrestling was cultivated even in earliest times. Did you know that King Henry VIII liked this ancient sport and was considered to be very good?
